East Sister Rock Island has been a part of the Williford family legacy for over 30 years. Our story began with a dream — our father, Robert Williford, had always envisioned building a fully self-sufficient, off-grid sanctuary where he could fly in by helicopter and escape the world on his own terms.
When he discovered East Sister Rock, it was love at first sight. He purchased the island in 1995 and, by 1997, transformed it into a sustainable retreat powered by solar and wind energy, complete with a custom-designed rainwater catchment system.
Originally our private weekend getaway, the island became too special not to share. Since the early 2000s, we’ve opened our doors to guests from around the world, offering East Sister Rock as a one-of-a-kind vacation rental and event venue.
Today, we continue to operate the island as a family-run escape — staying true to our roots while sharing the magic of this off-grid paradise with those seeking privacy, adventure, and unforgettable memories.

Amazing house and Jessica was such a kind and responsive host.

Jessica was an excellent host! Our large group of 13 were comfortably accommodated for an amazing weekend in the Poconos. The property was perfectly located for morning runs (if you like a little hill challenge here or there) and centrally located for shopping and eateries. The designated game room was a great amenity and the hot tub was just the right temperature. When we arrived we had a slight hiccup with the fridge temperature, however Jessica was immediate in her response time and troubleshooting. Any and all questions were welcomed and answered. The cherry on top was the opportunity to leave a farewell note in the guest book. All in all it was a great stay and definitely a repeat trip in the future.

From the hot tub on the deck to the well resourced kitchen to the beautiful environs, we enjoyed everything. The home was as described with a great main bedroom and bath and whimsically colored rooms upstairs I had a few work calls and that worked smoothly in the office area. I do an annual large family gathering and can’t wait to book that here for 2024! It’ll even accommodate little kids!

We really enjoyed our stay. The host was responsive and took care of any concerns rights away. The house was beautiful and cozy.
I am passionate and I live life to the fullest. The friend whose location is always updating, timezone always changing. The coworker who ought to have a permanent vacation responder. The mother whose group chat responses have a 50% chance of being unable to deliver. Previous winds have brought me to 46 other countries, and today Brooklyn is where I call home.
